Move Well, Breathe WellRestorative Exercise Alignment & Oxygen Advantage Breathing Technique
Saturday 15 July – 9:00am to 5pm
Premier Fitness, London N4 3JP
As a culture, we have grown up in a movement drought. Even those who exercise hardly move at all, relatively speaking. We tick the exercise box and consider our health taken care of. Any exercise we do tends to be repetitive in nature working the same areas while other parts of our body remain largely unused. We tend to outsource the work of the body to our chairs, our shoes, our cars etc. The importance of becoming aware of how we move and breathe habitually – how little we move and/or how much we over-breathe – cannot be underestimated. Our long term health depends on it.
Restorative Exercise Alignment with Michelle Muldoon – 9am to midday
In this Restorative Exercise class, using objective markers to look at whole body alignment, we will spend time doing simple but effective exercises that allow you to deepen your mind-body connection. You will develop an understanding of how you carry your body weight and load your parts and why it matters. The exercises allow you to explore your current ranges of motion and become aware of your sticky spots. Find your muscular boundaries and begin to address the habits that may be contributing to pain or disease.
Michelle Muldoon is a movement teacher and Nutritious Movement Certified Restorative Exercise Specialist. You can find out more about her at www.heartandsolemovement.com.
You might be a runner, walker, exerciser, you might not. Anyone can benefit from joining this masterclass. You will come away with a valuable practise and ideas to help change the environment that is shaping you in more ways than you can imagine.
The Oxygen Advantage with Gray Caws – 1 to 5pm
The health benefits of the Oxygen Advantage breathing method include better sleep, improved cardiovascular health, and increased energy and concentration. Increasing the amount of oxygen that can be delivered to your working muscles and heart during exercise will allow you to become healthier, faster, fitter and stronger.
This session will give you an understanding of how to improve everyday breathing habits so that body oxygenation becomes more efficient. You’ll learn specially designed breathing exercises that provide similar benefits to high-intensity interval training without excessive stress and stRain on the body.
Gray Caws is a Master Chi Running Coach, Certified Oxygen Advantage Instructor and Specialist Personal Trainer.
Why not make a weekend of it and come along on the Sunday too to deepen your understanding and practice of Chi Running. We’ll examine supporting theory and learn simple exercises and drills to improve your running and walking and reduce risk of injury. We’ll explore the idea of tensegrity and the natural spring systems within our body.
